Bolton Wanderers have added to their attacking options by bringing in experienced Polish international striker Grzegorz Rasiak on loan from Championship side Southampton for the rest of the season.

Wanderers boss Gary Megson stated earlier in the day that he was in talks with a player from the lower leagues and the giant forward Rasiak has now been revealed as the man in question.

Starting his career in 1996 with Warta Poznan, Rasiak had spells with GKS Belchatow, Odra Wadzislow and Dyskobolia Grodzisk before moving to England with Derby County in September 2004.

He made a good impression during his one and only season at Pride Park netting 18 goals in 41 games before being allowed to move to Tottenham Hotspur.

During his time at White Hart Lane he made just eight appearances and was allowed to join Southampton on loan at the tail end of the 2005-2006 season in a move which was later made permanent.

Rasiak did well initially at St Mary's netting 18 league goals last season and proving to be a handful for opposing defenders but this season has been mixed for the 2006 World Cup star.

Speaking about his fourth transfer capture this month, Bolton manager Megson beleives he has acquired a powerful striker who knows where the back of the net is.

"Grzegorz is a big, powerful centre forward who knows where the back of the net is. He will bring more firepower to the squad and allow us extra attacking options."
