Bolton Wanderers defender Andy O'Brien says that he has no regrets about moving to the Reebok Stadium from Portsmouth earlier in the season despite the fact that the Trotters currently find themselves second from bottom in the Premier League table...

O'Brien has been a regular at the heart of the Bolton defence since moving from the South Coast and he says that he is enjoying his football more than ever before.

The Republic of Ireland international is just relishing the prospect of first team football again having only played three times for Pompey during the course of last season.

"I have no regrets about coming here in the slightest, I said when I came here that I was grateful for the opportunity and I'm enjoying my football now, more than I ever have done." said the 28-year old to the Manchester Evening News

"Once you experience the other side of it, when you are playing in the reserves every week and not getting selected for the first team, it makes it more enjoyable when you do."

A lot has happened at Bolton over the past few weeks but O'Brien says he will continue to give his all under the management of Gary Megson who was appointed last week.

"I have born the brunt of opinions before when someone brings you in only for another to take over, ut the principles are the same. If you are in the team you work hard to stay there. If you are not then you work hard to keep pushing those who are in it."

"We have a close-knit dressing-room and we have got to stick together to get ourselves out of this situation."

O'Brien was one of a dozen new recruits at the Wanderers in the summer and as it turned out he also proved to be the last purchase made by former manager Sammy Lee.
