Former Bolton Wanderers defender Gerry Taggart has ruled out making a return to the Reebok Stadium as part of the coaching staff of new Trotters manager Gary Megson, who left Leicester City on Wednesday evening.

Taggart is currently in temporary charge at Leicester along with experienced coach Frank Burrows and the ex-Northern Ireland international says he has no plans to follow Megson back into the Premier League.

"I can honestly say that I have had no contact whatsoever from Gary (Megson) about joining him at Bolton, and even if I had I would not go there. I am not interested." said the 37-year old who was a part of the Wanderers record breaking team to achieve promotion to the top flight a decade ago.

"I am happy here at Leicester and I am over the moon that I have been given an opportunity to coach here. I do not want to go anywhere else. I want to stay here.

"Gary leaving means this is the start of a new era for the club. It is another page in the club's history and I want to be part of that". added the giant Ulsterman

It is just a few months since Taggart retired from the playing side of the game with non-league Tamworth and he is still very much in the infancy as far as coaching goes having only previously held a player/coaching role at Stoke City prior to returning to Leicester upon Megson's arrival in September.
