Former Scottish international Graeme Souness has said that he no longer wishes to be considered for the vacant managers job at Bolton Wanderers after previously appearing high in the thoughts of Trotters chairman Phil Gartside.

Earlier this week the 54-year old looked to be one of the leading contenders to replace his former Liverpool team mate Sammy Lee who departed from the position at the Reebok Stadium six days ago.

However, Souness has now had a change of heart and contacted Gartside to say that he did not want to be the new manager of Bolton who currently find themselves sitting at the bottom of the Premiership.

Souness has been out of work since leaving Newcastle United in February 2006 and attempts to return to the game with Crystal Palace and Wolverhampton Wanderers have come to nothing.

Chris Coleman has revealed he is very keen on returning to the Premier League but his club Real Sociedad seem insistant in keeping the ex-Fulham boss in the Basque region.

Coleman could cost as much as £700,000 in compensation if he ends his stint in Spain early and Leicester City have also warned the Wanderers to be on guard for a legal battle if they poach Gary Megson from the Walkers Stadium.
