The Daily Mail says that Gary Speed could be on his way back to Newcastle United as part of the Magpies coaching staff following a disagreement with Bolton Wanderers manager Sammy Lee last weekend.

The 38-year old Bolton player-coach was left out of the Wanderers squad which went down 1-0 to Chelsea amid more dressing room unrest at the Reebok Stadium.

Now it is beleived Sam Allardyce, his former boss at the Reebok, will give him a chance to return to Newcastle if he is unable to mend his alleged rift with current manager Lee.

Speed made over 200 appearances for Newcastle between 1998 and 2004 prior to moving to the North West and he has since been a key part of the Bolton midfield up until very recently.

Earlier on in the season Spanish midfielder Ivan Campo was frozen out of the club and it has been suggested that Speed was an integral part of getting the player reinstated whilst Gavin McCann and skipper Kevin Nolan are also said to have voiced their concerns over internal matters which have blighted the club since Allardyce's departure back in April.

The same newspaper also reported that Fitness coach Damian Roden had left the club for Blackburn Rovers and strength and conditioning coach Phil Richards was mulling over his future despite having only joined the club in the summer.
