Bolton Wanderers reserves travel to Newcastle United this evening hoping to preserve their unbeaten start to the season which has seen them record a win and a draw from their first two matches.

Jimmy Phillips side defeated Manchester City in the Manchester Senior Cup a month ago thanks to two Zoltan Harsanyi goals and then a late equaliser from Danny Guthrie denied the Citezens a win when the two sides met in the FA Premier Reserve League North.

Opponents Newcastle also drew their opening reserve league fixture when sharing out four goals with their arch rivals Sunderland so the game at St James Park tonight should make interesting viewing.

Last season the two teams shared out a goalless draw in the North East with Bolton winning the reverse game 3-1 to all but seal their position as Reserve champions.

Slovakian duo Lubomir Michalik and the previously mentioned Harsanyi start the game as does Joey O'Brien who continues to make progress following a long term knee injury.

Striker Johann Smith makes his first start of the season but there is no place for Jaroslaw Fojut as the Polish youngster has signed for League One side Luton Town on loan.

Magpies reserve boss Lee Clark has an inexperienced team to pick from but Matty Pattison, David Edgar and James Troisi have all been involved with the first team in 2007.
