The Sunday People newspaper claims that Bolton Wanderers could be the next Premiership club targeted by foreign investment although it must be stressed that this is something which has yet to be confirmed officially.

Wanderers, beleived to be valued at around £45 million, could follow the likes of Aston Villa, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool in welcoming a backer from overseas.

The newspaper states that the Trotters want to sell as a part ownership but could be sold outright if a potential bidder stumps up the right amount of capital needed.

Bolton chairman Phil Gartside and club owner Eddie Davies are said to have been looking into the ins and outs of selling the football club and a team of negotiators have apparently been appointed in a bid to set up a deal and liase with potential buyers.

A deal could happen within weeks according to the report but this would then leave manager Sammy Lee with little time to splash the new cash which has been given to him.

At the moment the report is just speculation but if a takeover does happen then it will put Wanderers on a level playing field with other clubs in the league, albeit on a financial footing.
