Bolton recruited left sided midfielder Mikel Alonso on a season long loan deal in the summer of 2007 after his club Real Sociedad had been relegated from the Spanish La Liga. Alonso is an excellent passer of the ball and very creative in the way that he plays the game and this is not a disimilar style to that of his younger brother Liverpool's Xabi Alonso.
