Robbie Elliott, a former Bolton Wanderers record signing and 2001 Play Off winner, has joined ambitious League One side Hartlepool United following his close season release from the squad at recently relegated Leeds United.

The 33-year old moves to his third club in a year following on from brief spells at Sunderland and Leeds and the move to Hartlepool represents quite a coup for United boss Danny Wilson.

Newcastle-born Elliott (pictured) made over eighty league appearances for Bolton after becoming their record signing at £2.5 million in the summer of 1997.

He suffered a broken leg in the first ever game at the Reebok Stadium against Everton and later helped Bolton to two Play Off Finals, an FA Cup Semi Final and a League Cup Semi Final.

In 2001 he rejoined his first club Newcastle United under the Bosman ruling and went on to play in just under 150 games for them over two spells.

Elliott becomes the fifth new addition to arrive at Victoria Park this summer.
