Bolton manager Sam Allardyce wants to arrange a couple of behind closed doors matches in order to boost Kevin Davies fitness ahead of the trip to Manchester United on Saturday week. The former Southampton and Blackburn forward has missed the last month of action due to a foot injury but Allardyce is hopeful of having him available for when Wanderers make the short journey to Old Trafford.

Allardyce beleives Davies can come back as refreshed as ever if he is able to get in some match practise between now and the March 17th date with the Premiership leaders.

"I envisage him being fit for selection at Manchester United. But between now and then we have to try to fit some football in for him - a behind-closed-doors game if needs be - to get him a little bit of match practice." said Allardyce to the Bolton News

"It won't be enough to get him back to his normal self, but he is training hard enough to keep himself as fit as he possibly can. To have him back and available will be very important."

Davies has not played a competitive game since chipping a bone in his foot during the first half of Bolton's FA Cup draw with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
