Sam Allardyce says that Bolton Wanderers should not be ruled out of the equation if David Beckham decides to return to English football. The former England captain is out of contract at Real Madrid next summer and is already being touted for moves to other clubs including those in England and the United States.

He contraversially left Manchester United after over a decade of service in 2003 and has vowed that the only club he would ever consider returning to is the Red Devils.

However, Allardyce beleives whilst there is hope, there is always an outside chance that Beckham might move to the Reebok Stadium. The Bolton manager uses the experience of signing Youri Djorkaeff in February 2002 and futher names such as Fernando Hierro, Jay-Jay Okocha and Bruno N'Gotty as examples of what can be achieved if the club is sold in the right light.

"Bolton Wanderers would love to sign David Beckham, of course we would, In the past when that sort of name has been attached to this club, people considered it as something that was never going to happen."

"But cast your mind back to Youri Djorkaeff. People scoffed and said he would never come to play for Bolton but he came. So did Bruno N'Gotty, Ivan Campo and Fernando Hierro - we've attracted some fabulous players to the club. I am not saying that is going to get us Beckham but if it could, I would love it."

Allardyce was quick to play down the hype though and expects the 31-year old to remain in Spain at Madrid.

"I don't think David is considering leaving Real Madrid, He wants to do well and fight for his place because I know how much he loves the club and how much he loves Spain."
