Bolton Wanderers will hope to continue their five game unbeaten run tommorow afternoon as they take on Newcastle United at St James Park in a live televised encounter.

The Wanderers have only lost one game so far this season and remained undefeated throughout the month of September so they will be full of confidence as they go in search of their first win on Tyneside in over forty years of trying.

Newcastle have endured a mixed run of results in recent times but only Fulham have managed to come away from St James with maximum points since the season began.

Last season a Kevin Davies consolation was all a below-par Wanderers side had to show for their trip to the North East as the Toon Army ran out 3-1 winners thanks to goals from Nolberto Solano, Alan Shearer and Shola Ameobi.

Bolton claimed their first away wins of 2006 last month when coming up against Walsall in the Carling Cup and Portsmouth in the Premiership so they will be hoping to continue their upturn in form on the road once again this weekend.

Sam Allardyce has a new injury worry to contend with as Senegal midfielder Abdoulaye Faye sustained a muscle injury whilst on international duty in midweek.

Utility player Quinton Fortune could return to the fold after sitting out the last couple of matches with a groin problem but Ricardo Gardner (knee) is definately out.

Glenn Roeder is expected to name Stephen Carr and Nolberto Solano in his Newcastle team despite the fact that the pair have been carrying slight injuries of late.

Kieron Dyer, Michael Owen, Olivier Bernard and Shay Given are all expected to sit on the sidelines as they are still receiving treatment but defender Titus Bramble returns after serving a suspension.

On-loan front man Guiseppe Rossi will also feature at some stage against the Wanderers after missing the last game against Manchester United due to the terms of his temporary transfer.

IT HAPPENED WHEN BOLTON PLAYED NEWCASTLE

It eleven years ago since Bolton faced Newcastle in their first home Premiership match. Incidentally one of the Newcastle scorers that night was Les Ferdinand who later had a short spell with Wanderers

When these two sides met in January 1998 it was Newcastle who claimed victory thanks to a last minute goal from Temuri Ketsbaia. The balding Georgian international celebrated by repeatedly kicking the advertisement hoarding

In October 2001 Jussi Jaaskelainen was sent off during this meeting and Bolton had no reserve goalkeeper so midfielder Bo Hansen had to go in goal and the Trotters lost 4-0

The 2003-04 season saw Henrik Pedersen score a bizarre goal from near the corner flag after debutant Steven Taylor had misjudged the bounce of the ball. Pedersen's cross cum shot looped over the head of Shay Given and into the net
