The Wanderers have been handed a difficult away tie against League Two side Walsall in the Second Round of this years Carling Cup. The fixture at the Bescot Stadium will take place on the week commencing Monday 18th September in between the Trotters league games against Middlesbrough and Portsmouth.

It is the third time in five years that the Wanderers have met Richard Money's side as three years ago Mario Jardel scored twice to send Bolton on their way to a 3-1 win.

In 2001 the two sides shared out seven goals as Henrik Pedersen netted the winner for the Wanderers in a 4-3 cracker at the Reebok Stadium.
