Nicolas Anelka made the move to his fourth English club when agreeing an £8 million deal to join up with Bolton Wanderers. Here we produce a timeline to look at the career of the French striker.

1979

14th March - Born in Versailles, France

1996

7th February - Makes his football debut on the big stage when playing for Paris St Germain against Monaco

1997

6th March - Joins Arsenal in a £500,000 deal after just a handful of games with Paris

1998

22nd April - Makes his international debut for France in a goalless draw against Sweden

Wins the Premier League, FA Cup and Charity Shield whilst with Arsenal

1999

20th August - Leaves Highbury for Real Madrid in a hefty £22,500,000 transfer after becoming one of English footballs most leathal strikers in the 1998-1999 season.

2000

Wins the Champions League whilst at the Bernabau and plays alongside Wanderers favourites Ivan Campo and Fernando Hierro

That same summer he also manages to get his first honours at international level as he is part of the French squad which lifts the European Championships.

After just a year in Spanish football he moves back to first club PSG and plays alongside ex-Wanderers Jay-Jay Okocha and Bernard Mendy

2001

21st December- Returns to English football with Liverpool on loan as the Reds look to replace Robbie Fowler. Whilst at Anfield he gets to work with current Bolton coach Sammy Lee.

2002

16th July - Makes a club record £13,000,000 move to Manchester City and is their top goalscorer for two consecutive seasons. Plays in City's 2003-2004 UEFA Cup campaign and hits four goals from five possible starts

2005

January - Leaves English football seemingly for good when moving to Turkish club Fenerbache. Plays just 14 times for the club and manages to score four goals.

2006

25th August - Joins Bolton Wanderers as their club record signing in an £8 million deal
