Two Scottish MP's have voiced their disgust after Greater Manchester Police cancelled a proposed friendly match between Bolton Wanderers and Glasgow Rangers. Jim Sheridan, representing the Paisley and Renfrewshire district, joined fellow parliment member Jim Devine in questioning the reasons for the sudden cancellation of the friendly which was due to take place next Tuesday and both are now looking to take their concerns up to a higher level.

Chairman of the all-party Scottish football group Sheridan will look to speak to the home secretary John Reid about the matter in an attempt to find out the circumstances surrounding the decision.

Livingston MP Devine has also written to Chief Superintendant Dave Lea of Greater Manchester Police in an attempt to get a full and concise version of events after Rangers reacted with anger and astonishment having originally got the go-ahead to play the game in the week previously.
