Eric Djemba-Djemba has vowed to fight for a place in David O'Leary's starting eleven this season. The Cameroon international has played just 70 minutes so far this term but he believes that he can be a huge success at Villa Park in the coming year. Despite only making one substitute appearance for The Villans so far this season, Djemba-Djemba remains convinced that he can become a major force in David O'Leary's side.

Speaking to Aston Villa's official website, Djemba said, "I agree with the manager that this is going to be my season. And I will try to work hard to get my place. Everybody knows that if they work hard the manager will give them their chance to play.

"I'm satisfied with the way things are going. We have only played four games so it is too early to say that you aren't happy to be here...I came here because I want to play. I have committed myself to play here - that is what I want. I played for most of the game at Manchester United and did okay and I believe my time will come."

Speaking about Aston Villa's chances this season, Djemba revealed that he is aiming for a top-eight finish. He said, "The team is getting fitter, we are working hard and we are playing well...We should be aiming for sixth, seventh or eighth this season because we have good players, good fitness, good lads and we train hard.

"The arrival of Milan Baros can help us achieve that. He is a good player, with good experience and that can only be good for us."
