Liverpool have completed the signing of Bayern Munich youngster Alou Diarra on a free transfer.

Diarra who was a member of the under 20 France side that won the the World Youth Cup in 2001.

Diarra joined German Giants Bayern Munich two seasons ago from French second division outfit Louhans-Cuiseaux and was also a member of the French national side that competed in the World Youth Cup last year.

He failed to break into Munich's first team in his spell at the Olympiastadion but is the first of Gerard Houllier's Summer Targets to seal his move to Anfield.

Senegal World Cup pair Salif Diao and El-Hadji Diouf will both be Liverpool players before the Season starts.
