England and Liverpool Star Jamie Carragher is set for a operation in the summer.

Carragher's Injury is thought to be the main reason why England Coach Erikkson has decided not to take the Liverpool star to Japan.

Jamie has been playin through the pain barrier and is thought that he will get the operation as soon as the season ends.

Reds in Talks with Diao

Liverpool have confirmed that they are in talks with French Club Sedan over the transfer of Salif Diao.

The Senegalese international has been scouted by Liverpool Boss Gerard Houllier in Recent weeks and has impressed.

The Deal could be finalised as soon as the French Transfer window re-opens on the 15th of this month.

The 25 year old moved to france at the age of 17 and has played with Fabian Barthez at Monaco with Emmanuel Petit and Thierry Henry.

Diao will play in this summers World Cup for his country Senegal.

An Anfield spokesman told the club's website: "We can confirm we are talking to Sedan about possibly signing the player."
