Gunning scores

Rangers crashed out of the Scottish Cup this afternoon thanks to 2-0 defeat at home to Dundee Utd.

At the end of a week where Nikica Jelavic was allowed to leave and more articles came out about the money (or lack of it) Craig Whyte has put into the club they have now crashed out of the Scottish Cup.

This leaves the Ibrox club with only the League to play for having already been knocked out of the League Cup byFalkirkearlier in the season. That may seem like a good thing, but having already having seen a 19 point shift between them and Celtic a fourth title in a row is looking less likely.

The goals were scored in the first half by Gavin Gunning and Johnny Russell in front of a crowd of less than 18000 who had bothered to turn up. That is surely another warning signal to those in charge at Ibrox, that even the punters can’t be bothered turning up.

There was even a hint in an interview in the Sunday Times this morning administration could even happen before the tax case verdict is announced. The tone of the interview almost suggested administration is inevitable, and that would bring with it a 10 point deduction and end the quest for the title.

The next few weeks look as though they will prove to be make of break for the Ibrox giants, and it will be interesting to see what the outcome finally is, and if as a result they will end up being a “mediocre” club as their fans are fearing.
