With Celtic winning at Paisley while Rangers could only draw with Aberdeen at Ibrox to see Celtic move four points clear at the top of the SPL, will Rangers be able to recover?

Despite some early efforts from St. Mirren which saw Forster deny Steven Thompson on a couple of occasions Celtic eventually saw of the Saints thanks to goals from Forrest and Brown.

Rangers then followed this up by having to come back from a goal behind, thanks to the much maligned Maurice Edu, to snatch a draw from the Dons, who looked as though they may have won their first game at Ibrox since 1991.

The Ibrox side were 12 points ahead at one time, with Jelavic reported to have said the League was over and a fourth title in a row heading to Ibrox.

The same Croat now looks as though he will be heading South before the end of January, to QPR, West Ham or Fulham by the looks of things. If that is the case Rangers will need to replace someone who has scored 14 SPL goals for them to date.

The next highest scorer for Rangers is Steven Naismith with a total of nine before his injury which has forced him out for the rest of the season. This seems to be when the problems started for Rangers, it is widely recognised they have really struggled since he has been out.

McCoist doesn’t have his problems to seek with a couple of the players he brought to the club in August already looking as though they are surplus to requirements. They are looking for loan moves for Aussie midfielder Matt McKay and Alejandro Bedoya. These two have barely made it into the first team while, Ortiz had an early run and has disappeared.

Everyone at Ibrox will now be hoping the tax issues with the HMRC do not force them into administration. This will bring a ten point deduction as well as probably seeing members of staff being made redundant.

This is all beginning to point to a title stroll for Celtic, although it is football and we know anything can happen between now and May.
