Sutton on way out

It would appear as we get to the sixth day of January SPL clubs are beginning to realise they need to make changes in their squads.

Aberdeen appear to have been the quickest off the mark as Craig Brown realises he has defensive problems and is looking to fix them. It looks as through Russell Anderson will come in along with Mark Reynolds on loan from Sheff Weds. On the other hand it looks as through Ricky Foster will be joining Derek McInnes at Bristol City.

Anderson won’t be match fit until March, therefore it would appear he has been bought for the future (seems a bit strange given his injury problems and age). Reynolds is a proven SPL player with Motherwell, although he has struggled in League 1 with Sheff Weds, it will be interesting to see where he plays for the Dons.

At Hearts John Sutton has been told by Paulo Sergio he has to be out of the club by the end of the transfer window, making you wonder if he now regrets moving away from the stability of Motherwell.

There have already been links with a loan move to Preston, St. Mirren, Dunfermline and Kilmarnock for the striker.

Also with Hearts there have been moves from Crawley Town to take Rudi Skacel down to the League 2 leaders. Although it does look as though this move will fail at the moment. But it does show there is likely to be major movement out of Tynecastle as January continues.

One move which has taken place is the move to Motherwell for 20 year old Estonian striker Henrik Ojamaa. He has already had a couple of trial spells at Fir Park and after spells in England, Germany and Finland he is looking to re-establish his career.

Other moves mentioned today are a bid for Rangers Maurice Edu from French side Sochaux which has been rejected by the Ibrox side at the moment. Over at East End Park they are on the look out for a goalkeeper with Paul Gallacher out for the season. They have been linked with former Chicago Fire keeper Andrew Dykstra and also Alan Combe formerly of Kilmarnock.

It look as though January could be an interesting month for the SPL clubs as they jockey for position in the coming months.
