The SFA Compliance Officer has handed Garry O’Connor a two match ban for his alleged dive against St. Johnstone last week, but Hibs will appeal it!

O’Connor was “fouled” for the penalty which he stepped up to score to make the score at the time 3-1. Hibs eventually won the match 3-2 with Cillian Sheridan pulling one back for the Saints.

"The club have chosen to refer the matter to a Fast Track Tribunal, which will be convened on Thursday," said an SFA spokesman.

After the game Saints Boss Derek McInnes was upset with the decision, and described it at the time as “the wrong decision”.

Having seen the highlights on the BBC website it does look as though there was little contact and O’Connor did appear to go down easily. If that is the case Hibs may have been better advised to take the two match ban and deal with O’Connor and his stupid on field behaviour.

O’Connor should also realise this has always been something the authorities have been wanting to clamp down on over recent years, and at his stage in his career he should know better!
