Sheridan scores

Two Cillian Sheridan goals were enough to give Saint Johnstone their first home win of the season against Hearts this afternoon.

Both sides were looking to bounce back from a League Cup knock out in midweek with Hearts having lost toAyrand Saints to Saint Mirren.

The early stages were even but Saints took the lead after 30 minutes, when Sandaza split the defence to release Sheridan who lifted the ball over the advancing McDonald in the Hearts goal.

Hearts immediately got caught up in Saints style of play, where the compress the midfield and defence and hit on the break.

This made Hearts half time substitution even stranger, replacing Webster with Templeton, and moving Mrowiec to centre back. This seem to make Hearts even more disjointed and it was no surprise when they lost a second.

Once again it was the front two combining to make the opportunity, with Sandaza once again releasingSheridanto round the keeper and roll the ball into the empty net.

Saints ran out comfortable winners with Hearts barely troubling Enckelman in the home goal. Derek McInnes seems to have found a system that suits his players and causes other teams problems.

Hearts have other problems with the new Manager still trying to come up with his best eleven. They are really struggling with Stevenson and Elliot up front, and John Sutton not even listed as a sub.

The other thing of note in this game was the performance of the over fussy referee Stephen O’Reilly who managed to book 7 players in a game that was played in a decent spirit. He seemed too quick at times to pull out his yellow card when a word of warning might have been enough.
