Fans and club are at loggerheads down Rugby Park way with fans threatening not to buy season tickets

Kilmarnock FC Supporters Association (KFCSA) called for a vote of no-confidence in Chairman Michael Johnston and the board. A number of fans have made it clear they will not be renewing their season tickets after the board decided on a price increase. They claim his time in charge is threatening the very existence of the club.

The KFCSA are annoyed as they feel that the safety of home fans was compromised by failing to stop Rangers supporters getting into the home end in the final game of last season.

But Johnston has hit back and urged the supporters to back the club by buying season tickets.

"I’m disappointed the KFCSA had to make a statement to this effect. We will take on board the points they’ve made but a lot of this seems to stem from one game, the match against Rangers," Johnston has said recently

"It would be bitterly disappointing if fans failed to renew their season books because of this one game.

"We have already issued a statement outlining our stance on the course of action we took that day. And we have obligations to the league and our sponsors to ensure that an end-of-season title decider is conducted in the right atmosphere and the winning team is presented with the trophy and allowed to celebrate their success in a measured way. The police were satisfied with the arrangements."

Many of the fans are also expressing concern at the exodus of players from Rugby Park this summer. This has seen Eremenko, Hammill, Taouil, Bryson and Wright already heading out the door.

There could be some good news on the horizon with likely new boss Kenny Shiels set to make Sheffield Wednesday striker Paul Hefferman his first summer signing.

Many felt the same way about Killie’s chances at the same stage last season and then Mixu Paatelainen found some nuggets and gave the fans one of their most enjoyable SPL seasons for some tiem.

Only time will tell now…..
