Jelavic celebrates

A Jelavic goal just before half time at New Douglas Park was enough to see Rangers close to two points on Celtic.

Rangers started sluggishly and were on the back foot on a number of occasions before the gifted Hamilton a great opportunity to score when the gifted them a penalty.

Dougie Imrie burst towards the edge of the penalty box where he was bundled over by Steven Davis. Imrie took the kick himself, but his effort was hit too close to the centre of the goal allowing McGregor to save low to his right.

The game continued in a similar fashion for the remainder of the first half until a couple of minutes to go when Alex Neil committed a soft free kick at the edge of the box. This allowed Jelavic to step up and send a fantastic bending shot high past the stranded Cerny.

There was little to commend the second half, with Accies having the bulk of the possession without really looking like testing McGregor again.

At this stage of the season no one at Rangers will be too worried about the level of performance as long as the continue to grind out results and keep in touch with Celtic for the next Old Firm game which could settle the title

For Accies, they are beginning to accept their three year SPL stay is over and as a result they are already making changes in their squad, Casalanovo has been allowed to leave as had Marco Paxaio.

It looks as though they are looking to playing a team of youngsters in the SFL next season!
