Trouble at mill

After the drama of the night before we have had a day of statements, from the SFA, Rangers and Celtic, even politicians but no one coming up with an answer.

Everyone has had their say today from First Minister Alex Salmond who demanded a summit ahead of the next meeting only just over 2 weeks away.

Then the SFA were quick to come out and condemn the behaviour of the two clubs while defending the performance of their employee, the referee.

Celtic were up next with Chief Exec Peter Lawwell quick to praise his players and supporters for their excellent behaviour, quite clearly pointing the finger elsewhere – and I wonder where that might be??

Then the day ended with a lengthy statement from Rangers Chief Exec Martin Bain, and his main thrust seems to be referees are now behaving differently to earlier in the season after being put under pressure from other quarters – what quarter might that be??

After last night’s shameful scenes surely the time for talking is over and it is time for action. What should that action be, a number of ideas have been put forward today;

1. Play games behind closed doors
2. Even earlier kick off times
3. Points deduction
4. Ban the game altogether.

It is now time for something drastic to be done but surely there needs to be some accountability and responsibility from the teams and clubs themselves. It may be time for them to look in the mirror and rather than point the finger elsewhere look inside take some action closer to home.
