Lennon sent to Stand

Neil Lennon has been banned from the touchline for six games after his bust up at Tynecastle recently but will appeal the decision

Lennon was given the ban for being sent to the stand by referee Craig Thomson during Celtic's 2-0 defeat by Hearts in November.

That dismissal which followed an altercation with fourth official Steven McLean, brought an automatic two-match ban, which Lennon was appealing at Hampden on Tuesday.

The appeal was overturned this afternoon and he was given a further four matches due to his excessive misconduct during the incident.

Celtic have issued a statement saying they are shocked with the announcement, "We are very surprised and extremely disappointed, we believe the punishment is excessive and unprecedented for a first offence."

It is hardly surprising they are going to appeal the decision which seems to fit with Celtic’s approach to all decisions this season. It always seems to be someone else’s fault and clarification or explanation is always required.

You would hope one day they could just sit down and take the punishment and draw a line under the events and move on.

It would also be good to know if they were as squeaky clean at home, there appears to have been no punishment handed out to any of the Green Brigade following the poppy scandal….
