Rangers had no problem seeing off “in form” Kilmarnock at Ibrox tonight in the Fourth Round of the Scottish Cup.

Rangers came out of the traps quickly and were all over Killie right from kick off. They pressed high up the field and put in a few thumping tackles to let them know they were there.

In truth Kyle Lafferty was lucky not to be shown two yellow cards, rather than the one he did receive, for some high tackles. There were also bookings for Naismith and Davis as Rangers made a statement early on.

They stamped their supremacy with two stunning strikes from distance by McCulloch and Lafferty, to take a two goal lead into the break.

After the break Rangers did have to cope with some Killie pressure but they really failed to threaten McGregor in the home goal.

With about 20 minutes left sub Weiss was brought down at the edge of the box by Hammill allowing Whittaker to take over spot kick duty from the absent Kenny Miller and sent the ball high past Cammy Bell.

This was another disappointing one sided game played in front of Rangers lowest crowd, 13215, since the 1980s. Killie will be left rueing their slow start to the game, and financially their decision to keep prices at £20!.

There are now six teams through to the fifth round draw tomorrow, Motherwell, Rangers, Celtic, Hamilton, Inverness and Aberdeen with ten other ties still to be decided.
