It was Aberdeen boss Mark McGhee’s turn to blame a referee for a defeat as his Dons side tumbled 0-1 to St. Johnstone, while Lennon, Danny that is, accepts red card was player’s fault.

His side lost to a late own goal from Zander Diamond, but played the bulk of the second half following a red card for Ryan McCardle.

McCardle was shown a straight red by Willie Collum for an over the top tackle on Cleveland Taylor. The player claimed he took the ball but he was off the ground and tackled with two feet, it looked a red card to me.

McGhee said after the game, "A refereeing decision conspired against us and cost us the game. If we stay with 11 men then I think the worst that happens is we draw the game.

"St Johnstone exposed the fact we didn't have 11 men by taking a

quick free-kick and it's ended up in the back of the net.

"That's hugely disappointing given the amount we put into the game.”

Sorry Mark but it wasn’t a refereeing decision that conspired against you but more a stupid tackle from one of your defenders that put the referee in that position. It’s all well and good defending your own player but it was his poor decision that saw you at 10 men not the referee’s.

He should maybe have followed the lead of St. Mirren boss Danny Lennon who accepted the sending off of Michael Higdon for being the player’s responsibility.

He acknowledged his own player’s stupidity and has promised to work with him to cut out petty fouls that are seeing him land in trouble every week – more power to Mr. Lennon and are you watching Mark McGhee.
