Celtic striker Gary Hooper joined the ref debate and thinks Celtic get no decisions from the refs as they are one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Hooper was speaking today at the launch of a Celtic Charity event this afternoon in aid of Breast Cancer, and he waded in saying that he believes Celtic get a disproportionate amount of poor decisions;

"Yes, I think so. We are one of the biggest teams in the world.

"Everyone wants to beat us and maybe the referee wants to give decisions against Celtic so that they can tell someone that they gave a bad decision against one of the biggest clubs in the world.

"All the good teams get it and they just get on with it and win games.

"We have to deal with it in our own way, don't react to it and just keep winning games.

"We don't really talk about the referees (in the dressing room), this is my opinion."

There are all sorts of holes in this arguement, firstly are Celtic still one of the biggest clubs in the world. I am not sure they are one of the biggest clubs in Europe any more given their consistent poor performances in Europe in recent times.

It doesn't appear to me they get more poor decisions than any other team in the country, watching them against the smaller teams the consistently get the breaks. Against the likes of Motherwell, St. Mirren, Hamilton etc they get the benefit of the decisions.

At least his team mate Thomas Rogne was a bit more circumspect with his comments at the same do; 

"The game is so fast these days referees are always going to make some mistakes. It is a very tough job.

"How people react to it is a bit surprising but I don't want to get involved in that to be honest."

Maybe Hooper should learn from this and not be taken in by the paranoia that surrounds Celtic and their fans as far as refs are concerned.
