Paul Merson has sensationally stated that if we lose to Scunthorpe on Saturday - He'll resign.
What he thought about Players performances
- Some people showed some real heart, but the rest, they just folded.
- They know they have let him down.
On the blame
- He said we should blame him.
- Don't put the banners up, back the players in the coming games.
- He knows he is the blame.
- "forget me" was repeated a few times, even if we'd have lost "25-0" today he wouldn't be walking.
- People can blame him for letting Jorge, Fryatt and Bennett go.
On facing the media
- The players offered to speak to the media and shoulder the blame
- Merson said he didn't "want to duck"
- He brings in the players and if they don't perform it's him to blame.
On coming games
- Get behind the team.
- It's the biggest game since the Rotherham relegation match in 2004,
- If we lose he will go.
- Oakes and Westwood look like they'll be out injured.
- Gerrard will be suspended.
- He's got injuries and suspensions coming out his ears.
On the recent run
- He said after the Barnlsey game that this was going to be a tough run.
- He told the players this tough list of 5 away games could cost him his job.
- The home form is good enough and should get us back on track.
The key theme was forget about me, stop he banners, I put us in this situation I want to get us out of it. If we do lose I'll go.
