Paul Merson's shake up has started with five players being told they have no future at the club. With Bennett and Fryatt also possibly going through the Bescot exit door it could make for an interesting January. Paul Merson has begun the great Bescot clearout that was promised after the dismal performances at Bradford and Bristol City.

Five players have been told that they have no future at Bescot with the highest profile player being Kris Taylor. The youngster, signed by Colin Lee, has struggled to convince both Lee and Merson of his abilities since his arrival via Man Utd youth set up.

Although he has plenty of ability it appears his main downfall could be his attitude which is often called into question.

Kris Taylor spent a short time on loan at Nigel Clough’s Burton Albion last season when he was out of favour. He was rewarded with a two year contract on his return which still has 18 months to run. A return to Burton Albion could well be on the cards.

Meanwhile, Joe Broad, Taiwo Atieno and Jonny Harkness have also been told they do not have a future at Bescot Stadium with Merson advising them to sort out new clubs.

Joe Broad is another player who was “strangely” given a two year extended contract after limited appearances whilst Harkness’ contract is due to expire at the end of the season.

Another youngster also looks to be on his way out. Daryl Taylor appears to be en route to Hereford in a loan deal which will last until the end of the season.

Along with the shocking news of the potential departures of Bennett and Fryatt and the already departed Leitao it looks to be an entertaining transfer window in WS1.
