Last season saw much chopping and changing within the Bescot ranks. With seemingly weekly changes to Coaches, Captains and Assistant Managers it now looks like Merson is trying to steady the ship.
Having waxed lyrical last week about the abilities of new signing Westwood, Paul Merson has revealed in the Express and Star that his new Club Captain will be his latest recruit.
Second in command will be midfielder Michael Standing whose first task will be to lead the team out in the opening game at Millmoor due to Westwood being suspended.
Merson obviously holds Westwood in high regard giving him the armband.
Last season the lack of a leader out on the pitch was clear for all to see.
Obviously Merson has recognised this and sees in Westwood certain leadership attributes that have been missing from the team.
Hopefully he will be the driving force behind this years promotion push.
