Paul Merson has moved to strengthen his defensive line. The attractions of the West Midlands far outweigh the delights of the North East obviously.
The Official Site today reports that Central defender Chris Westwood has agreed terms with the Saddlers.
He is expected to make the switch from the Monkey Hangers to Bescot on July 1st when his existing contract expires despite Hartlepool's reluctance to let him go.
Westwood, a local lad from Dudley, claims his decision to leave the North East is due to a burning desire to return to the West Midlands (i've just made that bit up - the real reason is he wants to join a better team!)
At 28 years of age and having been with the 'Pool for 6 years he brings with him a wealth of lower division experience including an appearance in last years Play Off final.
Hopefully he will bring some fight and desire in his kit back which was sadly missing last term.
Good to have you on board mate.
