An interesting feature from the Bescot Beat carried in Saturday's matchday programme is the introduction of the transfer window to Football League clubs from next year. According to our leader (Mr Whalley) the transfer window will be imposed on Football League clubs as from next season. Initially the Football League was granted a three year exemption to the FIFA ruling.

There will be massive implications if the introduction of the transfer window lower down the football leagues goes ahead.

Obviously there is the question of not only cost but survival. Some clubs are very close to the financial wire and may need to sell a player merely to survive. This will not be possible.

Also, there is the question of injuries and suspensions meaning that clubs will either have to invest in a larger playing squad (this again is costly) or face up to having to play the youngsters (again not very good if you are chasing promotion and the subsequent riches)

There has apparently been a Working Party set up by the FL to consider the full extent of this ruling.
