Loan signing Andrew Surman made the right kind of impression in this afternoons Reserve match against Sheffield Wednesday.
The young South African made his first Walsall start and will be reasonably pleased with his contribution. He opened scoring after just two minutes, but went on to be on the losing side, as Wendy ran out 3-2 winners.
The team was as follows - Coleman, Willetts, Dann, Roper, Vaughan, Daryl Taylor, Platt, Broad, Surman, Williams, Robinson. Subs: Wheeler, Harkness, Perry. The Official site is carrying an official report. Click here to take a look.
The Southampton loanee was named amongst Saturdays substitutes but failed to get a taste of the action. He is set for more of the same this weekend as Merse only needs to replace the injured Mark Kinsella. Surman is considered to be an offensive player, and is unlikely to slot in to our midfield to replace Kinsella.
