Former Carlise, Fulham and Barnsley midfielder Steve Hayward is training with the Saddlers. A deal isn't out of the question.

THE NOTORIOUS STEVE HAWARD IS TRAINING WITH THE SADDLERS.  

The Walsall born Midfield Stopper is famous for the tackle which some believe rendered England U21 International  Stuart Ryder unable to cope with League Football. Haywood was red carded for challenge and Ryder made a "full recovery" - but was only a shadow of his former self.  

Haywood's last club was Barnsley and Merse is running the rule over him and clearly see's him as a potential signing.
