Darren Bazeley has turned down the chance to start a new life in the ex colonies in favour of the well known attractions of Walsall! Darren will ease some of the worries about the shape of the defence by signing a new one year contract today.

He had been offered a chance to move to New Zealand and join his ex team mate Danny hay, but has decided instead to sign up for another stint.

Bazeley had struggled a little last season in the first division, but had had a superb season the year before. Hoefully, the drop to a lower level will help him recapture his form.

Meanwhile, Paul Merson stated to fans at last night's forum that there will be no more signings before the start of the season,but there was a loan budget if the squad proves to be too weak.
