THE MERSON FIVE - SIGN UP

PAUL MERSON HAS AWARDED PROFESSIONAL CONTRACTS TO 5 YOUTH TEAMERS. 

Those players are...

Taiwo Atieno - A bustling, strong and powerful Striker. Shown a great deal of promise in the Youth Team. A limited amount of chances in the Reserves. 

Julian Bennett - A commanding center half who has plenty of pace and is  good on the ball. Bennett has been a consistent member of the Reserves this season. 

Nathan Jamerson - A  central midfielder with good range of passing. Very similar to the likes of Gabor Bukran, Simon Osborn and Kris Taylor. 

Daryl Taylor - A pacey wide man with a trick or two up his sleeve.  Taylor has shone in the Reserve Team this season. 

Ryan Willetts - A tidy full back who is also able to operate in midfield. This lad could be the next Chris Marsh. (You heard it here first !) 

According to Jeff Bonser, these players were signed at Paul Merson's "prompting".

It will be interesting to see how Merse uses them . Will they be farmed out on loan? Left in the reserves? Or thrown straight in to first team action.

There is also no news on what will be happening to the likes of Bishop, Smith, Wright and Caines - Players who were told by Lee that they had until the end of the season to prove themselves.

Mark Wright has been playing well and could well earn another deal. The Merson Five will want to emulate Wright and  Fryatt, both of whom have made an impact in the First Team.
