The Saddlers are not the only club chasing Gareth Farrelly. Wigan Athletic are also interested in signing the former Villa man.

Bolton have agreed to let Farrelly leave for free, and he is currently searching for a club.

He has had loan spells at Burnley and Bradford so far this season, after failing to get first team football at the Reebok. 

Farrelly is a creative midfielder, not the workhorse our midfield is in need of at this moment in time. 

Given the choice between us and the Latics Farrelly will probably stay up north and sign for Wigan. We can't compete with the money Wigan are able to pay and could well lose out on yet another player.
