The Saddlers are looking for a new assistant manager as the club has plans for its youth system, Mick Halsall is poised to over see any changes. The Saddlers are looking for a new number two as Mick Halsall has been appointed Head of Youth Development. This appointment clearly reflects the good work that Mick has done with our youth system since he was appointed under Ray Graydon.

Speculation has already started as to who could be in the frame, with fans on Radio WM saying that former boss Ray Graydon is in the frame. Other names who will be linked to the job are Paul Merson and Martyn O’Conner, two Walsall heroes who have coaching aspirations. However, it is expected that Lee will want to go with someone who is both experienced and qualified.

TheSaddlersFC believes the new hotel development at Bescot Stadium could be linked to the new plans for our youth system. The exact details of what is planned are unclear but we can not see the club having a top class facility and not using it for benefit of the playing side. Although an academy may be out of the question, something in its form could well be expected.
