The club are about to announce that Matt Carbon is back at the club training, with a view to resurrecting his career. With the current defensive crisis, sounds like good news to me! The club SMS message service is giving out the news that Matt Carbon is back training with Walsall, with a view to resurrecting his career.

The early retirement of the classy, if often absent, defender came as a major shock at the beginning of the season, but the club did keep his playing registration. With Ritchie suspended on Saturday and a question mark over the fitness of Hay and Roper, the fact that Matt has decided his decision was wrong comes as welcome news.

Although his fitness could be questioned, he did have virtually a full pre season, so he can't be totally unfit and beggars can't be choosers. What happens to him after the current crisis is over might be a different matter.
