A disappointed Colin Lee will continue his search for a new striker after the Saddlers failed to kill off Cardiff City to their cost at Bescot today.
The Saddlers were denied maximum points by a last gap Gareth Whalley equaliser and afterwards Lee spoke to Radio WM about his latest target. The striker – who is available on a free transfer – has been tracked by Lee for two months but is unwilling to take a short term deal while the club cannot afford a longer deal. Lee would not confirm or dismiss the rumours linking Ade Akinbiyi with a move to Bescot but did say that the player in question had “far more pace than anyone we’ve already got”.
As for the game itself, Lee “thought we outplayed them in the first half” but “had a lot of defending in the second half and James Walker made some good saves, so probably overall a draw is a fair result”. He also hit out at the “budding Alex Fergusons” who made their feelings known to the Saddlers boss at half time.
