Fitzroy Simpson is on trial at Mansfield Town, and made it clear how important it is to him to be playing regular first team football in the football league at his age in a recent interview with Radio WM.

Fitzroy Simpson is currently on trial with Mansfield Town. The former Walsall midfielder was interviewed on Radio WM recently and said that beggars cant be choosers in footballs current economic climate. 

A player with Simpson's pedigree and experience shouldn't have any problems when it comes to finding a new club, and their is no doubting that the player could do a job in the second of third division next season.  

The Stags have taken a number of former Saddlers on board over the last couple of seasons, but none of them have made a lasting impression.

Mansfield boss Keith Curl knows all about Simmo, having played with him at Man City during the early 1990's. Simpson left Maine Road in 1995 and spent 4 years at Portsmouth before a dismal spell at Hearts where he only started 8 games in nearly 3 years saw him arrive at the Bescot in March 2001 where he made a favorable impression under Ray Graydon. 

The rest as they say his history, Fitz will always be remembered for playing  for nothing at the start of 03/04....before  finnally getting a  contract and hanging around in the reserves for the rest of the season.
