Lee looking north of the border

Following Karl Hawley’s successful loan spell in Scotland last season, Colin Lee is looking to arrange deals for some of the other Walsall youngsters, including Andy Bishop, Nick Smith, Craig Stanley and Hawley himself. The moves would give the players first team experience while also shrinking the much maligned Bescot wage bill, which is currently hindering Lee as he builds his team for next season.

Lee was north of the border last week to take in the Scotland versus New Zealand tie which featured Bescot defender Danny Hay as an unused substitute and is said to have met officials from two different clubs.

“We're hopeful of getting something going because it would benefit all parties. If we can get some of them out on loan it would do them some good and hopefully it would help put some money back into my budget.” Lee told the Express & Star.
