Zdrilic Goes Home

Aussie International David Zdrilic became the first of the "big" names to leave today, having rejected a contract offer. He is returning to Australia to consider his options. Colin Lee acquired the Aussie striker as a foil for Jorge Leitao, but his stay at Walsall has been disrupted by injury, which resulted in him losing his place to the Brazilian, Junior. Junior's goalscoring form meant that his chances were always going to be limited after that.

He made 10 starts for the club and 19 substitute appearances, with a strike record of 5 goals.

His finest performances probably came in the games against Rotherham and Millwall and it's a shame we never had a chance to see him at his best.

With him wanting to return to the International Team, however, there was probably little chance of him staying, if it meant playing as a back up striker.
