Saddlers Look for a smooth run in.

The Club have announced that covers are being installed to protect the pitch in the winter months between the 18th December and 24th February. New Page 1

This is clearly a sign of the Saddlers moving to make sure that their is no fixture congestion come the end of season run in, when hopefully the Saddlers will be clear of relegation. I

The move isn't that surprising considering the high profile games that fall between now and mid-February. They are games that the club would hate to see postponed because evening games never draw crowds as big as Saturday games. The games against Wolves and Leicester City fall in this period and are certain to attract bumper crowds.

Everyone will remember how Crewe were expected to win all their games in hand towards the end of last season, but failed and got relegated, while Port Vale found themselves in a similar situation back in 99/00. Although the covers offer no cast iron guarantees, they show the club doing everything they can to make sure this season passes with no major problems.
