Wimbledon took the lead in this game after 25 minutes of the first half. Mcanuff was on the end of a Neil Shippley pass which he took around Jim Walker to put the Dons in to the lead.

Wimbledon did push on for a second goal before half time but it was Junior who equalised for the Saddlers on 42 minutes. It was a relatively scrappy finish from junior who added another goal to his increasing tally from inside a hectic penalty area.

The second half saw Referee Butler give two penalties that had a profound impact up on the game.

The first penalty was awarded on 66 minutes to Wimbledon after  Pollet was adjudged to have pushed a Dons player in the box during a corner. Shippley stepped up and converted the penalty putting the Dons back in the driving seat. The most disappointing aspect of this incident was the Walsall players crowding around the referee after the decision had been given. As Graydon used to say their is no way he will change is mind and it will only result in cards being thrown about. In this instance it was O'Connor that was booked, a player who has failed to put a  run of games together so far this season, and with silly bookings like this he is unlikely too.

Colin Lee reckoned the ref awarding the Saddlers a penalty for a foul on Leitao on 80 minutes was an attempt to even it up. Sonner stepped up and struck a fine penalty to level the game.

The Saddlers never really looked comfortable, and always looked likely to concede a 3rd goal, and in injury time Francis grabbed a late winner for Wimbledon before Gier was sent of for something iniquitous in the Walsall penalty area.

The equaliser had come deep in to injury time. You could be harsh and say that the time Walsall spent complaining and hassling the referee was the time added on that allowed the Dons to equalise. Either way the Saddlers were to blame for their own down fall.  The defenders have got to start monitoring the runs and movement of forwards and midfielders rather than merely watching them stick the ball in the back of the net or relying on Jimmy Walker being in form.
