Following week's of understandable rumour, conjecture, gossip and pure speculation, Friday (16th) , at 10am , we move from the previously mentioned stages to confirmation of how Coventry Rugby will start to shape up for season 2025/2026. Are you ready for it?
The, as signposted by the club on their various socials, mentions those leaving, those staying and those who are incoming. Not for Cov the constant drip-drip of new signings, new daily postings , the desire for click-bait, the ' keep them guessing' approach. It's a full-on ' here it is, deal with it' attitude. I like this approach, none of this ' pussyfooting ' about. It's full-on, in your face. It's the Coventry way. To paraphrase Fleetwood Mac, ' Go Our Own Way?' Please remember, others try to copy, but none ever even come close.
The current Worcester Warriors media blitz is a prime example. Be prepared for this to last until October!
In the lists, all of the lists, there will be surprises, shocks and plenty of opportunities for discussion. Some of the changes have long been signposted, talked and rumoured to be happening and will be confirmed. All I will say is , for me, I will support the various decisions that will be being announced. I will not criticise, but I will support Coventry Rugby as a supporter and sometime sponsor. It is going to be a busy last few weeks of 2024/2025, Season Memberships ( To me they will always be Season Tickets!) will be announced shortly, the upcoming Playing Squad Lists, and the big Tier 2 announcement. Can you handle the excitement?! To finish off, let's go back to a music theme. Will it be the ' Promised Land' ala Chuck Berry or Johnnie Allan or, hopefully not, the Talking Heads , ' Road To Nowhere?'
Yes big reveal is welcome as to one a day for weeks..
My guess from picture on the link is that Toby and Pooley are staying as it would be odd to include them on a picture if announcing they are leaving later that week but who knows! Tommy Martin too but I maybe over thinking it. He could be on a. 2 year deal anyway..
I think there will be some exciting signings. We have to trust sharpey.. Alex too as been a really good recruiter but we don’t know if coaches will be different too as it prob needs a bit of a shake up.. but we can’t go from nearly beating Northampton saints (strong 15) to a poor side over night so I still have the faith..

I also still have faith. Will be interested in the overall and thoughtful reactions to it. For me, I still would like an uplift to the season, a couple of wins would be great but, whatever will still be looking to support the club over the close season , ( events yet to be announced which I hope people will support) and the new season when it starts. I still believe.
Agreed Paul.. and I am looking forward to Saturdays game against Notts in the sunshine. It’s a former players day so should be good and a win and some good rugby would provide a boost. Fridays news will add to the interest and/or excitement.. it’s also one of the last couple of times to prob see Matt Kvesic in a Cov jersey so we should enjoy that, I remember clearly the day he signed and it was met with lots of positively being an England international and outstanding prem player. It lessened the impact of losing Josh bainbridge.. sharpey often pulls out some suprises.. Henry purdy was another gem although we had him for just 3 to 6 months, not seem acceleration like that since!
Let’s be positive and enjoy Saturday and get behind the lads..

WOW that's a complete difference from previous years. I think we all know that lots of players are leaving us and i expect the retained list to be probably the smallest it's been for several years. So we can only hope the club are announcing who is joining us as we have several exciting signings. It's been mentioned over many previous years that people are being asked to renew their season tickets before they know who the squad is. So it's a hats off from me announcing this all at once. Let's hope we are all left excited for next season and the club gets record season ticket sales. Cant wait now cheers Colin.
There is a reasonably credible rumour that the long awaited T2 re-launch announcement will be at 17:00 hrs today.
Despite the hoo-ha last October of major new broadcasting and sponsorship deals, there seems to be some doubt that this has been achieved, and that what we’ll get is simple confirmation of the 14 club structure with a new name. That might seem a tad cynical, but who knows eh?
TeflonTed It’s a bit of a mess isn’t it.

Cov Dog Edinburgh have announced Jake Henry is leaving for Coventry.
Good news. Kind of expected I think.
This is the actual statement regarding Jake:
Jake Henry | Edinburgh player #1331 | 5 appearances | 1 try
' Winger Jake Henry, a product of Edinburgh Rugby’s pro-academy and former Ross Sutherland RFC player, signed his first professional contract in 2023 after representing Scotland at U20 level.
He gained significant attention in the summer of 2022, showcasing his scoring prowess with Scotland 7s at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, including a hat-trick against Malaysia.
Henry made a memorable try-scoring debut for Edinburgh against DHL Stormers in March 2024. The winger will remain at Championship side Coventry whom he joined on a season-long loan ahead of the current campaign.'
Wow. That’s a lot of leavers!. Will be interesting to see who turns up at Worcester!. Hitchcock and Hutler the notable losses. Squad seems very small and lacks some Premiership quality but hopefully more to come?
