Another impressive score from the development side against Newbold, but Rotherham proved a little too tough in the main fixture.
Final scores for today's double header at the BPA:
Coventry 52 - 38 Newbold
and:
Coventry 17 - 25 Rotherham Titans
Couldn't make the first fixture, but the senior side struggled against a big, well-organised Rotherham outfit.
Cov certainly held their own in the scrum, and the rolling maul looks like it will be a productive weapon this season, however the line-out was misfiring and there was certainly some grumpiness around me about the amount of possession we kicked away.
Not a bad result against an opposition from a division above us though, and at least it will stop anyone getting carried away. @CowshedTim king of the updates again, I don't know how he manages to do it and keep track of the game!
Certainly a game of two halves today, I thought the first half we were very good bar a couple of mistakes, we took the game to them and had a decent amount of possession.
Scrums and driving mauls excellent,a bad day for the lineout, and our kicking for territory in the second half was awful.
A few chances missed with our winger over running his inside man hence 3 fwd passes, needs to stay a yard deeper!
With Sam T coming on in the second half I would of used him more rather than kicking possession away.
If we can play like we did in the first half then I think we will be hard to beat.
Be interesting what side is picked next week but can't see too many changes from todays starting team.
The Bench will be difficult.
Disappointed because we could of won today.
